Managing Accounts

Create child and family accounts, manage balances, and control account access.

1

View All Accounts

The Accounts page shows all child and family accounts as cards. Each card displays the account name, balance, interest rate, and whether the account is frozen.

2

Child vs Family Accounts

AllowanceVault has two types of accounts:

  • Child Account — Belongs to one child. Only that child (and parents) can see it. Use these for personal savings, spending money, or goal-based accounts like "Birthday Fund."
  • Family Account — Shared across the whole family. All children and parents can see the balance. Great for shared goals like a family vacation fund or household chores pool.
3

Create a New Account

Click 'New Child Account' or 'New Family Account' to create one. Set the account name, optional initial balance, and interest rate with frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly). A live simulation shows projected earnings.

4

Account Details

Click any account to see its full details: current balance, pending balance (future-dated transactions), interest information including next payment date, and the complete transaction history with filters.

5

Freeze & Unfreeze

To freeze or unfreeze an account, go to the account's Edit page (click the Edit button). The Account Status section lets you freeze to temporarily lock all transactions, or unfreeze to resume. A frozen account shows a badge and alert banner on the detail page.
